Patti Dorman Receives a 2017 Looper Rockstar Award

March 14, 2017 – Pines Health Services’ Patti Dorman was presented with an In the Loop Looper Rockstar award for her outstanding work as a health insurance assister. Every year, In the Loop—the health insurance assister organization—grants Looper Rockstar awards to individuals around the country who are “…going above and beyond to help consumers access coverage and care.” 

“Patti will stay late, come in early, and do whatever is necessary to ensure that folks get the answers and support they need in enrolling. She organized and worked many outreach opportunities to make it more convenient for people to be able to enroll.”
Congratulations to Patti who is the only 2017 recipient of the Looper Rockstar Award in the state of Maine.

"Last November, MeHAF convened stakeholders for a statewide meeting, Advancing Rural Health System Transformation, with the goal of raising awareness of the issues and sharing innovative solutions underway in rural communities in Maine and around the nation. At the meeting, a series of rural health innovation briefs was released highlighting promising approaches and building the foundation for MeHAF's new initiative and grant program." ... "The Maine Health Access Foundation awarded $240,000 to five organizations to develop collaborative approaches to improve health and health care access in Maine's rural communities."

Surgeon Joins Pines Orthopedics, Sports Medicine and Podiatry Team

“Dr. Robert Bassett is a great addition to the area’s medical community and to the Pines Orthopedics, Sports Medicine and Podiatryoffice located on the Cary Medical Center campus” said Pines CEO Jim Davis on Tuesday, as he announced the most recent addition to the Pines physician staff. “In addition to his clinical training in Boston, Dr. Bassett has also been involved with teaching and has served hospitals in Kansas, Vermont and New Hampshire.”

With significant experience in hand, elbow, and shoulder surgery, Dr. Bassett’s specialty training bolsters this clinical area for which The County has had a significant need for many years. In addition, he diagnoses and manages general orthopedic conditions and is experienced in trauma and various diseases that affect the hand and wrist.

JOHN W. KAROD, M.D., BRINGS 18 YEARS OF UROLOGY EXPERIENCE TO THE COUNTY AT PINES HEALTH

Caribou, Maine

June 2017 - Pines Health Services today announced that urologist John W. Karod, M.D., has joined their medical team.
Dr. Karod’s central areas of focus are the treatment of urinary incontinence, stone disease, and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). His current practice also includes general adult urology, pediatric urology, and routine office procedures including; cystoscopy, collagen injection, and vasectomies.

Dr. Karod will be scheduling surgery and planning cases in cooperation with the Cary Medical Center operating room team. Office hours are Monday through Friday by appointment. He began seeing patients at Pines Urology, which is located in the lower level of the Caribou Health Center on Tuesday,
