Orthopedics and Sports Medicine
Orthopedics is the diagnosis and treatment of conditions of the musculoskeletal system—bones, muscles, tendons, and joints. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders. In addition to or in place of surgery, orthopedic surgeons may prescribe medications and physical therapy to treat a variety of injuries or conditions.
